No, Seriously

Folded in 2016 from a 27cm square sheet of watercolour paper

Model height: ca 35cm

One of my early masks, very much a caricature, but its friendly demeanour passes my test of time. To this day, I find it interesting how the model “works” in spite of its wonky volumes, our eyes seem to decode the lines which define the face instead of dwelling on whether this is a realistic face or not.

On a general note, caricature are not what I am looking to fold these days, but they were a good and fun starting point to begin designing origami masks, at a time my understanding of human proportions was essentially inexistent.
