Perspective

Folded in 2023 from a square of Arches watercolour paper (ca 30cm by 30cm)

Model height: ca 30cm

As much as I love it, this model is very difficult to display in the real world, as it is folded in trompe-l’oeil. This allows to translate each line of the picture I had in mind to a single crease, without introducing additional layers. You could run your finger from the forehead to the jaw without encountering a fold, for example.

The cost of that is that the model must be looked at from a specific angle to catch it in the correct perspective. In general, I aim for the opposite, i.e. to make each of my pieces interesting from a wide(r) range of angles.

I haven’t given up on the idea of folding a large metal version of “Perspective” as an object to exhibit outside some day.
